Message from our Principal
Welcome to the website of St Joseph’s NS Skibbereen.
St Joseph’s NS is an all girls primary school nestled in the heart of Skibbereen town. As part of our Special Education Needs department, St Joseph’s NS has a state of the art purpose built special educational needs suite, which allows us to cater for students with more specific needs.
We aim to create a school where all children are valued and respected. We strive to offer a welcoming, happy, caring, secure and challenging environment in which every child is able to develop to her full potential. St Joseph’s NS is a place where all children are taught how to think rather than what to think. At St Joseph’s NS we celebrate and cherish diversity. We believe that a broad balanced educational experience within a caring environment promotes positive attitudes towards learning and enables each child to recognise their talents and achieve their full potential.
We aim to create a centre of excellence in education with high academic standards, high expectations, whilst fostering the emotional intelligence and talents of our students. All we strive to achieve is carried out under the guidance of a Catholic ethos. While we are a Catholic school we welcome and respect all faiths and none. Respect for each individual within the school community is a core value within St Joseph’s.
As Principal of St Joseph’s, I am extremely grateful for the hard work and goodwill of parents, pupils, teachers, SNA’s, secretary, caretaker, our Parents Association, our Board of Management along with the wider community of Skibbereen. As a team, we provide the best possible educational experience to each and every child attending St Joseph’s NS.
